Workshop Series Supports Finding Life Balance and Meaning in Retirement

NEW B’NAI SHOLOM WORKSHOP SERIES SUPPORTS FINDING LIFE BALANCE AND MEANING IN RETIREMENT

A new workshop series offered by B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation in Albany will guide participants on “mindful living” that can help them contemplate and understand the life process known as “retirement.”

“Shalom Retirement! Embracing Transition, Finding Balance” will be taught online 3-4:30 p.m. over four Tuesdays – Oct. 20, Nov. 3 and 17, and Dec. 1.

Are you embracing a major life transition with delight?  Or do you feel adrift at sea?  Join with others to pause and contemplate how your transition process is reflected in the multiple meanings of the Hebrew word “shalom”: hello, goodbye, peace and wholeness.  This highly participatory, four-session program will help you to:

  • explore your internal images of “retirement”;
  • understand the process of transition as a series of endings, unknowns and beginnings;
  • draw from the practices of “spiritual eldering” including gratitude and forgiveness;
  • consider ongoing shifts in identity and life balance;
  • identify the steps you can take to cultivate your next phase of life – and legacy – with purpose and meaning.

Workshops will be led by Audrey Seidman, a Vatika/Sage-ing® Mentor facilitating workshops and passing along practices and wisdom to support positive conscious aging.  Seidman also is a spiritual director and an outreach chaplain for the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York.

 “Shalom Retirement!” is open to the public.  Fee is $80 ($72 for B’nai Sholom members).  Registration is required.  Registrants will receive a confirmation email with links to access the course.  Space is limited and registration is encouraged by October 15.
