Ways to Give

B’nai Sholom is grateful for contributions to assist us in serving our community. Gifts may be directed to any fund, committee, or budget line (see below.) If you have any questions, please call the office. And thank you, on behalf of our members and our Board of Trustees.

The Congregation also maintains several funds that are grateful for your contributions. Contributions to these funds remain in these funds from one year to the next, as opposed to budget line contributions, which return to the General Fund at the conclusion of the Fiscal Year if they have not been used.

Examples of budget line contributions are to the Library, the Art Committee, etc.

The Funds we maintain, and their purposes are:

  • General Fund – pays the various expenses of the congregation as laid out in the budget, which is approved by the Congregation at its Annual Meeting
  • Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund – Contributes to other organizations and pays for items that primarily assist the Rabbi.
  • Endowment Fund – Provides for the future financial support of the temple.
  • Circle of Life Fund – Supports major purchases or repairs not covered in our annual budget.
  • Social Action Fund – Supports the congregation’s many outreach and advocacy programs, such as voter education and Free Food Fridges.
  • Vera Propp Literacy Fund – Supports a variety of literacy-related projects, including Books for Babies, which provides new books to expectant parents in homes where reading is not a tradition.
  • Caring Community Fund – Supports our congregants in times of crisis.

Your free-will contributions, for which you receive no goods or services, are tax deductible to the fullest extent as provided by law.
